Born at home, in Chinchilla, she was the daughter of the Thomas L. and Elizabeth Taylor Moran. Sally was a 1948 graduate of West Scranton High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Marywood College in 1953. During her career, she taught night school for the Scranton School District Adult Education Program. She was also employed by the City of Scranton in the Controller's Office. She was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, West Scranton. Among her community involvement she and her husband served as chairpersons for the Marywood College Annual Fund Drive.
Sally lived most of her 82 years on the corner of Jackson Street and Sumner Ave. She and her late husband, Stew, had many friends and many travels, including visiting all 50 states. Sally was a very loving wife, inspirational mother and sassy grandmother. An avid reader, she enjoyed her "Book Club" friends and anxiously awaited the next "read." Sally never stopped missing her soulmate and they now are blessedly together for eternity.
Surviving are daughters Kathleen Coleman of Scranton, Kelly McMahon of Monroe, Michigan and Kateri Lucarelli of Kings Park, NY; sons Kevin, Kerry, Keith and Kristopher, all of Scranton; a sister Elizabeth Vournakes of Chambersburg; sixteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sally was preceded in death by a daughter in law Cynthia "Cindy" Collins Kearney; sisters Margaret Jean Rhue and Teresa Joan O'Boyle; a brother Thomas Moran.
All attending the funeral liturgy are asked to go directly to the church.
Funeral liturgy will be held Saturday at 9:30a.m. in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 1605 Oram St. Scranton.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 4-7:00PM in the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc. 125 North Main Ave., Scranton.
Entombment will be private at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to acknowledge the entire staff of Moses Taylor Intensive Care Unit for their exceptional care and for the support and assistance of Andrew Brown's Home Health Care personnel. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions be made to Ovarian Cancer Research c/o CCK Memorial Benefit PO Box 77 Clarks Summit, Pa. 18411 or to St. Joseph's Center 2010 Adams Ave. Scranton, Pa. 18509.
